TTI utilizes cutting edge Port Security Command and Control Systems and 24-hour security personnel. This gives TTI the ability to respond to any breach of security or Transportation Security Incident (TSI) quickly and effectively, ensuring the continued flow of cargo. Security Access Control and Surveillance Systems are in place to make certain that only persons with a business purpose may gain access to TTI facilities.
TTI is a federally regulated facility and must comply with the United States Coast Guard's (USCG) Maritime Security Levels (MARSEC). The standard operational MARSEC Level is MARSEC 1, which means the minimum appropriate security measures shall be maintained. The Captain of the Port (COTP) of the USCG Sector Offices has the authority to raise their Port area's MARSEC Level, which will increase the security of all facilities within their COTP Zone. In addition to that, the Facility Security Officer of each terminal also has the ability to raise the MARSEC Levels locally on his/her respective facility at any time.
TTI in conjunction with U.S. Customs and Border Protection provides multiple layers of marine cargo security. 100% of the cargo which enters the U.S. Economy through the TTI Facilities is screened for radiological materials. A percentage of cargo is screened with x-ray technology, which allows U.S. Customs and Border Protection to verify if any security threats exist within a particular container or piece of cargo.
